• - and an Air-Flow (EMS) air-abrasive system.

To relieve pain in the process of scaling, application, infiltration or block anesthesia is used. In addition, at the patient's request, professional hygiene can be done with pre-induction and sedation medication. In this case, the patient is not experiencing any discomfort and is sleeping during the implementation of medical manipulations on tartar removal.

Professional dental hygiene consists of two main procedures: scaling and smoothing of the root surface. Scaling is to be understod as direct professional tooth cleaning: removal of supra- and subgingival deposits (tartar). Smoothing of the root surface prevents the formation of plaque in the future, which is an integral part of periodontal disease prevention.

Along with the use manual tools, another tool can be used to remove tartar and other deposits: an electric scaler, which can be pneumatic, ultrasonic, or piezoelectric. Ultrasonic scalers, which operate at a frequency of 25,000 - 30,000 Hz, help significantly reduce the procedure of removal of tartar and other deposits; in addition, their operation creates the effect of cavitation, which has an antimicrobial effect. However, in remote areas, the quality of dental plaque removal by ultrasonic scaler is always controlled by a manual tool.
